Nhớ ơn Cha Mẹ

Thân, tâm con có  hôm  nay

Nhờ  ơn  Cha  Mẹ những ngày xa xưa.

Lễ Vu Lan nhớ ơn Cha Mẹ

Bao công lao dưỡng dục sinh thành

Vì ai nên mới có mình ?

Trông nom, bú mớm hết tình với ta !

Thuở còn nhỏ cho ta đi học

Mong sau này ta được thành nhân

Làm vinh Quốc tổ, quốc dân

Làm vinh dòng giống con dân Lạc Hồng.

Khi khôn lớn gả  chồng,  dựng vợ

Lo cho ta như đũa có đôi

Gia đình nề nếp,  mai rồi

Sinh con đẻ cháu đời đời truyền lưu.

Lúc về hưu người già khó tánh

Ta lựa lời hợp cảnh, hợp tình

Gửi thưa lễ phép phân minh

Sao cho xứng với tâm tình đạo con.

Chớ bao giờ dùng lời hỗn láo

Cũng chẳng nên cao ngạo ta đây

Dù ta tiếng Mỹ, tiếng Tây

Dù danh phận lớn ông này, bà kia.

Nên khuya sớm thần hôn định tỉnh

Ðạo làm con phải nhớ luôn luôn

Núi Thái Sơn - Nước trong nguồn

Làm con Ðạo Hiếu phải cho vuông tròn.

              GRATITUDE TOWARD OUR PARENTS

We want to show our gratitude toward our parents

on the occasion of Vu Lan ceremony,

They did so much things for us:

giving birth, feeding and teaching.

Thanks to them, we are present in this world,

They also took care of us very carefully.

When we were young,

 they sent us to school,

They expected us to become good people,

And become good citizens

who made our ancestors,

countrymen and nation proud.

When we were growing up,

they were worried about our marriage.

Once we find our soul-mates,

matched like a couple of chopsticks,

we’ll start our families.

Soon there will follow grandchildren,

 great grandchildren

down through the generations.

When our parents retire,

that’s the time they get older.

They become fastidious some times,

Therefore, we need to choose our words carefully

 and with courtesy.

In order to fulfill our duty as children.

Do not use any rude words,

or arrogance with our parents;

Though we’re able to speak English

or French fluently,

And have a high position in the society,

We need to speak humbly

and politely with our parents.

Moreover, we should visit  our parents very often,

We always need to remember

to accomplish our duty

toward  our beloved parents.

Their merit is incomparable!
